True Blue Hole 18

Hole Spotlight: True Blue No. 18

Oh, the water.

Indeed, it’s the first thing you notice as you approach the tee box at True Blue’s iconic finishing hole. This 437-yard par 4 wraps majestically around a large lake along the left side, with the club’s iconic blue-roofed clubhouse presiding over the proceedings every step of the way.

The water’s presence here compels many golfers to instinctively steer their tee shots down the right side. And that’s where you’ll find a large mound parked near that landing area; if you get too paranoid of the water, you might overcook your drive too far right, and possibly find the back side of this mound that then produces a partially obstructed view of the green.

The good news here is that the fairway is much wider at this point than you realize – nearly 80 yards, actually. Trust your tee shot to find plenty of landing area to the center and center-left, and you’ll have a much better angle to execute your approach.

From there, you’re hitting your iron into a green that runs from right to left, towards (yep, you guessed it) the water. But the putting surface is large, so a well-struck approach will have ample room to land safely.

No. 18 at True Blue Golf Club produces a thrilling finish to a one-of-a-kind Lowcountry golf round. And when you’re done, there’s no better place to grab a post-round drink, pull up a chair on the back porch, relax and see how your fellow golfers fare on this spectacular hole.

We look forward to having you here on your next golf trip, and hearing how much you enjoyed the experience!
